Violinist Julie-Anne Derome Plays New Music March 24 in Toronto

Born in Montreal, Julie-Anne Derome studied with Christopher Rowland at the Royal Northern College of Music, UK (1991- 1995), and with Mitchell Stern and members of the Emerson String Quartet in the USA (1995-1996). A winner of many awards, she has twice won the use of excellent violins from the Canada Council Musical Instrument bank - a rare accolade for a new music specialist. She has performed in recital, chamber music and with orchestras in Europe, the US and Canada, and has recorded for the Atma, Analekta and SNE labels. In 1998 Julie-Anne Derome founded Trio Fibonacci, a piano trio particularly recognized for its performances of contemporary repertoire.
