Actors Repertory Company presents
THE LONG CHRISTMAS DINNER
A staged reading and fundraiser
Toronto, ON (November 29, 2010) – Actors Repertory Company (ARC) is thrilled to be hosting their annual Holiday Reading and Fundraiser on Sunday, December 12th, 2010 at Theatre Passe Muraille. This year, the company will be performing a staged reading of award winning author and world renowned playwright Thornton Wilder’s classic American play, The Long Christmas Dinner, in celebration of the festive season. The night kicks off at 7 PM where guests will have the chance to bid on fabulous items in a silent auction and enjoy some Christmas goodies before the reading. Tickets are only $25 and can be purchased at the door.
Covering nine decades, The Long Christmas Dinner follows the growth of the Bayard family over several generations. Bending the rules of time and space, the audience is invited to join one long, happy Christmas dinner as family members appear, have children, wither and depart. Hilarious, beautiful and deeply moving, The Long Christmas is about how we celebrate our lives and the lives that came before us.
Performed by ARC’s new Artistic Director Janet Porter and some of Toronto’s hottest talent, including: Gordon Bolan, Deborah Drakeford, John Fitzgerald Jay, Kyra Harper, Emma Mackenzie Hillier, Ryan Hollyman, Sam Malkin, Andre Sills, Lorna Wilson and Jenny Young. Actor and Director Peter James Haworth will be directing the reading.
ARC is a two time Dora Award winning not-for-profit company. An artist-driven organization of actors from various age groups and backgrounds, the members of the company are connected by the ARC mission, which is to discover exciting, provocative theatre from the international repertoire that has rarely, if ever, been produced in Canada. ARC endeavours to find innovative and bold approaches to its organization and to its rehearsal processes and performances, with the purpose of bringing excellence to the stage that is relevant to a diverse Toronto audience.
